Tough Day at the Office for the 3rd XI

Match report by Neil Megson

Firstly a hats off to Joe and the 4th team with their first win of the season,it’s Joe’s first victory in nearly two years.. Nobody deserves yesterday more..
As for the thirds a predictable defeat against the best side in our division by a distance. I lost the toss and it wasn’t my best ever game.. more on that later.. Witney Swifts put us in and wickets tumbled at regular intervals.. An excellent, controlled 41 by 14 year old James Bristow on his senior debut for the club the highlight of our innings, he really did bat well.. as we were bowled out for 121..James innings was first class, he’s just another of the excellent group of kids we currently have at the club.. Sophie Mitchelmore with 25 and myself 22no getting us the total against an excellent attack… In reply I suffered a back spasm in the 2nd over and should have gone off but I’m an idiot and stayed on,my inability to move costing Kieren Churchill a couple of wickets.. Soory mate, I will get you a beer when your old enough.. Swifts openers Craig Wood and Andy Hemming knocked off the runs needed for victory with ease.. No shame losing to this outfit who will walk through Division 3 next season.. No heads went down as I don’t allow that… My only slight concern moving forward is our lack of runs in recent weeks,3 scores of under 125 is something to work on at Charlbury next week.. Onwards
