Friday Night Youth Training now finished for this year

I hope that you are now all looking forward to your summer holidays.

The last session that I was at had about 50% of the numbers that we usually see so this is always a good indication that we are nearing the end of the Friday session’s as both the coaches and players take breaks over the school holidays.

The U15 training on Tuesday’s will be taking a break for a couple of weeks but Craig will be continuing for a few more weeks. If there are any other players that are playing senior cricket on Saturdays or Sundays that would like to also attend then they are more than welcome. Please let Cat Miller know in the first instance.

The Managers are still looking at whether there are any opportunities for Cricket Festivals or Friendly matches but this will be communicated to you directly.  I am looking at options for an end of season presentation night. The preferred option would seem to be mid-September so I will be back in contact when a date has been agreed.

I am already looking at plans for next year. All of our coaches and managers are volunteers and we are always in need of assistance – this can be in the form of just “helping hands” or in a more formal coaching role on Friday’s to helping with Manging a team. If you are prepared to help out then please get in contact with me as it is often the number of volunteers that constrains the number of teams that we can enter.

We are expecting an announcement shortly about coaching courses to be run over the winter months by Oxfordshire Cricket. These vary from Introductory Sessions for assistants through to technical coaching courses. The Club policy is that we would be prepared to sponsor the cost of the course on the proviso that you commit to helping out. Again if anyone is interested then please get in contact.

Hope you all have a good summer.
