Thirds Lose By 34 At Shipton

The thirds lost at Shipton by 34 runs  on saturday, winning the toss and batting Shipton were soon in trouble against  fine opening spells from Iain Woodworth and Sean Cranley whose 10 overs yieded 2 for 16.Big hitting batsman Ian Lewis then took the game away from us as he smashed 55 and at 125 for 2 with 18 overs we were looking at a chase of around 230. But as so often this season the bowlers dug in and Tim Harrington with 3 wickets and 4 for Andrew Proctor as we bowled out Shipton for 190 with an over to spare. In reply we reached 31 for no wicket after 5 overs but after Paul Cutler was run out all hell went off as we lost 6 wickets for 9 runs in 5 nightmare overs.Enter Proc and Woody they put on 45 for the 7th wicket to get us out of the muck, but Woddy and Tim got out with the score on 96, then the silly old skipper and Proc managed 43 for the 9th wicket but when meggers was removed with the score on 139 all looked lost,But  Sean and Proc managed to get the score up to 157 before Sean was LBW which left Proc 54 n/o in a brilliant innings as we just came up short, a handy 16 points though.May i say the standard of the bowling in Div 5 this season is outstanding both from ourselves and the teams we have played, it is 2 notches up from last season as ours and everyones batsman are finding out.
