Banbury Win Sends Them Joint Top

Article from Monday’s: Oxford Mail:

Banbury saw off Reading by four wickets at White Post Road to join leaders Slough on 80 points at the top of Division 1 of the Sommers Home Counties Premier League.

Reading decided to bat on winning the toss but were soon made to rue their decision as Jimmy Phillips got to work.

The young Oxfordshire spinner finished with superb figures of 6-68 off 24.2 overs as the visitors were dismissed for 209 in the 66th over.

Banbury’s reply was positive from the off as openers Andrew Sabin and Benji Hector put on 69 for the first wicket.

After that, Jamie Noble took over and steered the side through a mid-innings slump to finish unbeaten with 61 as Banbury eased home at 212-6 from 52 overs.
