The game against Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts petered out into a draw on a shocking day in North Oxford. Initially the game was reduced to 48 overs a side, Oxford Nondies & Bletch won the toss and elected to bat. I have to take my hat off to all the Banbury players from young Lloyd Sabin to the ever green Peter Gregory, to a man we plugged away for 40 overs through drizzle and rain, eventually the umpires took us off and Oxford Nondies & Bletch finished the their innings on 144-7. Pick of the bowlers where Peter Gregory 10 overs 3 for 33, Ian Adams 10 overs 2 for 32 and Ian Woodworth 12 overs 1 for 42, Ritchie Robins finished the innings with a tidy spell of 3 overs for 5 runs.
The Banbury innings never got going apart from a few pleasant strokes! from Jonti Cooke who finished on 31 and some stubborn resistance from Megson and Mitchlemore. Eventually after 25 overs of the Banbury innings the game was abandoned as a draw and after all our effort we came away with 9 points to Oxford Nondies & Bletch’s 12.
PS I was late for the rugby club ball and missed the free Champagne!!!!! A great cricket day NOT
