AN OPENING stand of 178 between openers Lloyd Sabin and Ian Tew set Banbury on the road to a crucial 23-run win against Home Counties Premier League leaders High Wycombe at White Post Road on Saturday.
While Sabin returned an excelllent 77 before being bowled by Robert Collins, it was Tew who took the glory with an outstanding 103 before also falling to the bowling of Collins.
Banbury won the toss and elected to bat, recovering from the quick loss of mid-order wickets to post 267-9.
Jimmy Phillips then took 5-71 as Banbury dismissed the visitors for 244.
The win leaves Banbury in third spot in the league, boosting their outside hopes of a title push.
