Experience Prevails Over Youth

Match report by Neil Megson

Absolutely cracking game last night between the Vets and A team,Vets just coming out on top in a thriller…

A good old school toss to start the night, Jack asked me what I wanted to do, bat I said, we want to bowl… Sorted

Another disastrous start by us losing a wicket from the first ball of the match for the 2nd week running.. Andy Cross brilliantly run out by Josh Taylor.. But James Mitchelmore and Steve Beck both batted brilliantly, both retiring on 25,James Risbridger is then bowled first ball by Liam Manley but incredibly the bails stayed on, Liam made no mistake next ball cleaning Riz out.. Ollie Murrey then hit 3 6s in an over and he retired on 25..some how I managed to bat for 5 overs, running not my strength these days but I managed to get 20 odd as we finished on an excellent 135…

Ollie and Riz bowled well early on as we kept things tight, Jack Lambden retired on 25,we dropped 3 catches all difficult but the A side stayed in it, some brilliant hitting by Andy Prior and Liam Manley who hit 3 6s in an over kept it close.. 15 needed from the last over but a brilliant Ollie Murrey over yielded only 8 as we hung on for a excellent win..

We all slipped into the GF club afterwards.. cheap drinks all round .. then Ed Phillips and I slid into Adnans kebab shop for a delightful Donna and chips and had a very odd diccussion about Eds brothers extensive boxed shoe collection,we both definitely need to get out more…
