Defeat for Mens Indoor at the Halfway Stage

Defeat for the Men’s Indoor side last night vs Cropredy leaves the team with 2 wins & 2 defeats from the opening 4 games.

After winning the toss, another steady start followed, with Richard Simpson the only man to fall for 5, with Ben Cross (25 retired) and Jack Lambden (22) beginning to build a total. After Ben retired, in came Josh Taylor (22) to accelerate the run scoring, aided by a profitable 9th over taking the score from 80 to 111. Lambden, Taylor & Austin all falling in the latter stages to take us to 118-4 off the 10 overs.

An early wicket for Mark Austin set us on the way, however a strong second wicket partnership for Cropredy helped to build them a platform. The side were left to rue a number of half chances and a few too many extras as the innings developed. Despite Ben Cross taking a wicket, and 2 further run outs, Cropredy got over the line at the end of the penultimate over, to win by 2 wickets.

Next week sees the Vets take on Chipping Norton, in a big game at the bottom, at 18:45, followed by Banbury vs Hook Norton at 19:35.
