The 1st teams 3rd round clash against Knowle & Dorridge was curtailed by torrential rain at Whitepost Road on sunday.
Play did start on time at 1.00pm with the home side losing the toss and finding themselves batting first.
Banbury were bowled out by the final delivery of the 45th over for 229. A disappointing total considering the very strong position they were in with 15 overs to go. A poor display by the teams middle order contributing to the poor show.
Craig Haupt, Chris Smith and Richard Kaufman were responsible for generating a par score for the pitch.
In reply some fine bowling by Simon Launder and Ollie Murray put Knowle & Dorridge’s opening batsman under severe pressure. Launder struck twice in quick succession to leave the away team on 22 for 2 off 9 overs before the heavens opened and the umpires took the players off the field. Banbury certainly had the upper hand at this point and were frustrated by the weather.
Depite some stirling work by the groundsman, George Sabin to get the game restarted, the game was abandoned at 7pm and reschedule for Sunday 5th June at Whitepost Road, 1pm start.
