The thirds notched back to back wins with a 36 run triumph over Bicester at Ermont way yesterday. After losing the toss were were asked to bat on a very tricky wicket, and were soon in trouble as Charlie Hill nicked one behind. But John Wright and Jamie Coles put on 50 for the second wicket until Coles got the days unplayable delivery,Enter Asif Hussain who along with Wright got stuck in and ground out runs,Wright batted 39 overs for his 58 but what a crucial innings it was.Like previous games the middle order delivered as Hussain finished 52n/o ably assisted but Siam Hussain who once again batted with great maturity as we finished on a very competitive 153,Asif’s innings proved the class knock of the day.In reply Charlie Hill got the early breakthrough but Dan Murphy took the attack to us with some hard hitting,we didn’t help ourselves dropping him on 17 and bowling just a tad short at times. But Siam Hussain claimed his first wicket of the season and with some juggling of the attack and end changes things started to happen.Bicester were well placed at 104 for 4 with 17 overs to go but when Steve Hart bowled Murphy for 59 the wheels came of their wagon.Legendary pace bowler Mike Thomas worked his magic and along with Hart they ran through the middle order and tail as Bicester were bowled out for 116,Hart finished with 3-30 and Thomas 5-34.With this division proving to so incredibly close we have just crept into the promotion picture and look forward to Shipton 2nds next week.
