Match report by Neil Megson
A first defeat of the season for the thirds as we lost by 6 wickets against Witney Swifts yesterday.. I won my 6th toss out of 6 this season,Ian Bryan and Lee Marland putting on 30 in even time as we had a hit,but on their dismissals we lost wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 98,Only Will Marland batted any real time and nobody really got any score .. The pitch was a tad low and slow as Swifts bowled and fielded well, but 98 nowhere near enough, extras comfortably our top scorer …our cause not helped with Craig Haupt pulling a muscle and having to retire hurt.. He did come back in but couldn’t move… In reply we chipped away, wickets for Lee Marland his first for the club, Will Marland, Kieren Churchill, his first in league cricket and one for Steve Partington gave them something to think about.. It could have been so much better as we shelled 4 catches which didn’t help the cause ..
First time I had payed at West Witney in 42 years.. Well over a 100 people there watching, absolutely cracking atmosphere at the club, great hospitality from the Swifts who are the best side we have played so far… Onwards…
