Haupt Rolls Back the Years as the 3rd XI March On!

Match report by Neil Megson

It’s genuinely getting to be a bore now, that’s 7 won tosses from 7 this season and no shock we had a bat.. Lost an early wicket but Ian Bryan and Craig Haupt put on an excellent 113 2nd wicket partnership,Ian out for his highest score for the club a very healthy 48..Craig was joined by Will Marland, they put on 53 in even time..2 glorious cover driven 4s from Will (15) Kieren Churchill (11*) then saw the innings out with Craig (135*) with a stand of 57 as we finished on a very tidy 233-3..Great experience for the two young lads to bat time with Haupty.. But what an innings by the old fella, best I’ve seen in this team.. Great concentration, his innings was chanceless,a brilliant performance… 12 4s and 3 6s as he turned back time..

In reply Charlbury got off to a decent start but the introduction of the spinners changed the game as we took wickets at regular intervals..
Another excellent spell for Chris Phillips,he finished with 3-51 from 15 fine overs.. What pleased me immensely were 12 and 11 over spells from young spinners Freddie Crook and Kieren Churchill, both are improving week on week.. It’s great to see… Freddie finished with 2-45 and Kieren 4-58…Charlbury ended 200-9..with a bit more luck we could have won… But I will take 19 points everyweek thank you very much… Shipton 2nds away next week.. Onwards
