An astounding all-round display from Richard West inspired Banbury to a convincing 160-run victory in their Division 1 match at home to Burnham on Saturday.
West lifted Banbury from 62-4 to reach 258-7 with an unbeaten century.
The 24-year-old then produced a devastating spell of 4-0 as the visitors were shot out for 98 in reply.
Choosing to bat first, Banbury got off to an uncertain start.
Lloyd Sabin departed early on, and after a fluent 32 off 41 balls from Craig haupt, they lost three wickets for nine runs to be struggling at 62-4.
West and Ian Tew halted the slide with a stand of 51, before the latter went for 30.
With West still playing the sheetanchor role, Luke Ryan improved the momentum, striking 44 off just 46 balls with six fours before being sixth out at 170.
It was only then that West went into top gear, dominating a seventh-wicket stand of 88 with Ashley Blanchard, who contributed just 17. West sped to his century and when the innings closed at 258-7 in the 66th over, he had scored 103 from 129 balls with three sixes and 12 fours. Only Aftab Khan of the Burnham bowlers, with 3-98 off 33 overs, commanded re-spect.
The visitors never remotely looked like getting closer to the target, after both openers fell to the seam bowling of Brady Barends.
Only Obaid Ullah Sarwar offered resistance as Ryan and Blanchard chipped in with two wickets apiece.
But the end was sudden thanks to the intervention of West. In just 20 balls, he captured 4-0 with his off-spin as Burnham crashed to 98 all out.
The result consolidated Banbury’s fourth place in the table.
