The thirds completed a dramatic last ball victory against Kingston Bagpuize today.Losing the toss and being asked to bat we got off to a solid start and at 49 for no wicket after 20 overs we were well placed .Sadly John Wright 11 and Charlie Hill 32 both got out in quick succession and soon we were 74 for 5.Enter Mike Thomas and Will Briggs who both batted really sensibly and took the score to 153 ,Briggs made 34 and Thomas 43,it was left to another youngster Siam Hussain 16n/o and veteran Neil Megson 8 n/o to get us to a competitive 189-8.In reply Kingston started well and after 17 overs were 54 -0.But the introduction of Steve Hart soon slowed the run rate down with 5 consecutive maidens and the brakes were applied.Hart bowled superbly as wickets fell at regular intervals. At the other end the ageless man of the match Mike Thomas who bowled 23 8 51 3 produced a spell of high skill and stamina.Kingston to their credit kept going to the end and 2 wicket were needed off the final over for victory.Hart’s second ball bowled Verdin and last man one B Jeffries[no not him] top edged a skyer which Adnan Iqbal safely pouched to give us our first win of the season. Hart bowled magnificently to finish with 17 6 67 7 in what is his first victory in 4 [thats four] years of league cricket, now that is a monkey of his back for sure.
