Officer’s Reports
Chairman
In the Chairman’s absence, Mark Harrison gave a report from Martin Phillips, who apologised for missing his first AGM in the last 30 years. There had been continued slow progress with the acquisition of the second ground, largely because of the Charity Commission investigation and the Church and its legal agents. It had now been agreed that the Club would assume responsibility for the project and accordingly, MFBP, Paul Taylor and Mark Harrison had met with Trevor Parry to effect a handover of documents and information. A major fund raising effort will be required to support the venture.
After many seasons playing on an assortment of grounds, agreement has been reached to allow the 3rd and 4th XIs to play at Horton View in 2006. Ground and pitch improvements will be needed to bring the facility up to the required standard in time for the season.
Proud to report that the club had been accepted by the ECB to act as the county’s only Chance to Shine focus club, delivering coaching into local state schools. Paul Taylor explained the detail of the scheme and also confirmed that the club had also achieved its Clubmark award from the ECB.
Paul Taylor is to captain the 2nd XI in 2006 and was thanked for his excellent playing efforts in the 1st XI since joining the club. Benjamin Hector, a first class cricketer from OFS in South Africa, will join and captain the 1st XI in 2006.
Thanks for the hard work done by George Sabin, Paul Taylor and Jason Thatcher during the season and also to the President for his contribution and enthusiasm and the captains, coaches, umpires, scorers and committee who gave support during the year.
Secretary
John Phillips reviewed the performances of teams and individuals during the successful 2004 season.
