Youth Cricket Update – 14.06.23

Youth Cricket update from Cat Miller

Last week saw some great youth cricket across the age groups both at home and away.

The week started with a strong performance from the U15s in their league match against Cropredy. Good bowling and fielding restricted Cropredy to 78 for 9 off their 20 overs, and a brilliant 50* (off 29 balls) from Thomas H saw us home after 11.2overs, for a 7 wicket win.

Thursday saw our U13s travel to Bicester for the Quarter Final of the Ron Maudsley Cup. U13s availability was not good for this game,  but thanks to our amazing Under 11s who stepped up, we were able to field a team and fulfil the fixture. The coaches were hugely impressed with their performances too - Huw D, James A, Ollie C. and Beau R. showing us all that the hard work they put into training is paying off. Well done boys. The result was not what we wanted but we had a fantastic effort from the whole team to end up 21 runs short of BNOCC’s total. Good luck to them as they progress to Finals Day. Our U13s Cobras travelled to Great Tew on Thursday for their fixture and whilst the result didn’t go their way, a special mention for Digby T. and Kit K. for some good batting performances. Friday’s U13s Adders game against Middleton Cheney was a short one with our U13s bowling out Middleton Cheney for 18 and winning the game by 9 wickets.

Our Sunday games saw no less than 31 of our U11s compete in fixtures. Our League side enjoyed a convincing win over Chipping Norton with some great cricket being played. Well done to Harry B. behind the stumps for being awarded player of the match. Our Super 8s team travelled to Hooky in the heat eventually losing to a strong Hooky team. Special shout out to Alistair D. and Beau R. for sharing the keeping duties so well and to the coaches’ player of the match Nathan B. for some excellent batting. Finally, our softballers travelled to Eynsham for their game and came out on top with a final score of 313 v 308. Well done to the coaches’ player Lloyd D. for some excellent batting.

The end of another busy week for our youth teams. Well done to all who played their part and in particular our thanks to all the coaches and game day managers juggling player availability, venue changes and overall logistics to ensure all games were played.
