Youth Cricket NewsLetter

Despite the poor weather the first outdoor training session went ahead on Friday at WPR. “Thank you’s” need to out to all of the coaches and also a number volunteers who stepped up to help on the day.

There have been a number of problems getting emails out to everybody (mainly due to gmail thinking I am spamming)confirming that training has started – apologies for that and hopefully everything should now be resolved. We are likely to be using a new email address in future but for now I shall continue to usebanburyyouthcricket@gmail.com for announcements.

With the cancelled session last week and the bad weather creating uncertainty over whether Friday would go ahead this week – the youth committee have agreed to extend the early birds discount for registrations for a further week (to include registration received this coming Friday). For those who have not yet registered I have email a version to everyone on the old mailing list. Please just bring the completed form with you on the Day rather than emailing them.

In general training will go ahead on Fridays unless there appears to be a risk of injury due to slippery conditions or damage to the pitches. Where possible a decision will be made on Thursday, after the U15 training on whether the ground conditions are playable. In the event of bad weather on Friday we will review again by 15:00 and try to place an update on the website and twitter shortly after that.

The U15 players are now training with the Adult Teams, on Thursday at WPR, but we also have a number of players that are helping out with the youth training on Friday’s. I have had some question on whether this can be classed as volunteer work for those who are undertaking Duke of Edinburgh awards. I believe that it can be but you will need to check with your coordinator. If anybody wants to be involved on this basis then please contact Anna or myself.

The match fixture list for each of the age groups should now for 2016 should now be on the website.

Oxfordshire Cricket are directing that the results, from all youth game age groups, should be uploaded via the CriqHq app. As a minimum we need to provide an electronic update of the score but the recommendation is that the full score card, with batting and bowling figures for each player, is uploaded so the players can track there figures over the season. This will need to be completed by the team managers so they might require some assistance during the game.

In the first Newsletter I mentioned that Serious Cricket will be at the club on Thursday 5th May and this is still going ahead.

“Serious Cricket are the suppliers for branded Banbury CC kit. They have offered to run a try before you buy session at the ground. This is a great opportunity to try out the 2016 Bat Ranger and they will have representative’s  onsite to provide advice on bat or equipment selection”

I think that is it for now and we shall look forward to seeing you all on Friday.
