Wining Draw Keeps Fourths on Top

The Fourths stay top of their division after gaining 18 points from a winning draw against Oxford Downs III on Saturday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat Banbury got off to a solid start with a 57 run opening partnership between Martin Phillips(30) and Lloyd Sabin(28), but the mainstay of the innings was Mike Salmon, scoring 69 in his first innings for the team, as we reached 209 all out in the last over.

Downs reply looked promising until Chris Phillips’ 5-15 removed the middle order. Two wickets from Steve Paxton, plus one each for Will Hicks and Paul Cutler got us to within one wicket of victory, but Downs’ final pair blocked out five overs at the end to save the match, finishing on 153-9
