Banbury Cricket Club are delighted to announce the signing of Kieran Coyne, as an overseas player for 2022.
Kieran – 20, is a promising top order batsman and is more than useful with the ball, currently playing 1st Grade cricket in Western Australia with Melville Cricket Club. The side are coming off a strong season where they recently won the T20 Grand Final at the WACA.
Melville are a top Western Australian club, who boast the likes of Adam Voges and the late Rodney Marsh as just two of their long list of capped players, as well as former England Test cricketer Paul Terry as their current Director of Cricket.
Melville are also currently coached by former BCC player, David Taylor, who had this to say about the signing:
“When I first came across him as a 1-1 coach, he reminded me of BCC great Craig the legend Haupt, in the way of skill and temperament, which is one of the reasons I was so keen that he decides to come across to Melville to continue to learn his trade. His work ethic is second to none and the amount he wants to give back to the game is amazing for such a young player. He will do anything for his team mates and always puts the club first, and is desperate to leave a huge impression on the great BCC. I am truly excited that Kieran is coming over to Banbury this year and watching this great club continue all of its past and future greatness.”
Kieran will join us in April in time for pre-season and we hope he will also be a key member of our youth coaching setup throughout the season!
Please join us in giving Kieran a warm welcome to Banbury!
