A fantastic start to the season for both indoors sides, who having recently been promoted to Division 1, both achieved maximum points on their first outings!
First on were the ‘A’ side, who were put into bat by Chipping Norton. They finished on 125-4 off their 10 overs, with notable performances from Ali Short (31*), Richard Simpson (25*) and Ben Cross (23). A well controlled, albeit slightly rusty bowling performance then kept Chippy to 105 all out, again with notable performances from Richard Simpson (3-31) and Mark Austin (2-35) including a one handed caught and bowled, the like only seen in his goalkeeping days!
Swiftly followed by the ‘Vets’ Side who like the ‘A’ Side were asked to by bat by opposition Castlethorpe. Another good first innings score took them to 122-3, notable performances from Paul Cutler (26*), Ollie Murrey (22*) and Steve Beck (20). An even rustier bowling performance, mixed with some excellent fielding (including a lightning fast leg side stumping from Meggers) restricted Castlethorpe to just 68 all out.
Next week, the ‘A‘ Side are on at 6:45 vs Cropredy followed immediately by the ‘Vets’ on at 7:35 vs Sandford.
