Under 12 Girls Win 3rd Trophy of 2009

The Under 12 Girls side comprehensively won the Charlbury Under 13 Girls 6-a-side tournament on Monday winning all 4 games played against Combe & Charlbury.

Stats will follow but we regularly scored over 60 runs off 5 overs against girls who were a year older than most of ours. This was another great achievement to continue the girls successful  season having already won the Aston Rowant Under 13 Festival & Under 12 Girls Oxon League.

The Under 13 Girls played a friendly last night against our Under 11 Boys using the same format as the Lady Taverners (Inner Scoring Ring, 10 overs per side, etc).

The boys batted first and got off to a solid start with both openers, Jake Manning & Olly Roberts retiring at 20 apiece. Thereafter runs & wickets came quickly with Jack Lambden (8) superbly run out by Coral Reeves, Chay Buckingham (8), then George Grieves (7) was caught in the deep by Chloe Hill. The girls bowled & fielded suoerbly to keep the final total down to a respectable 86 for 4.

In reply the girls kept ahead of the run rate through the 6th over with Kate Davies (20 Retired) & Louise Tremlett (14) the top scorers. However, through the crucial 7th to 9th overs runs were hard to come by & wickets kept falling, leaving Coral & Chloe too much to do off the final over and they fell short by 5 runs. Chay, in particular, bowled his 2 overs superbly for a miserly 6 runs.

Thanks to Richard Lambden & Jamie Briggs for getting a boys team together for this crucial practice for the Girls prior to their Regional final on Sunday.
