U15’s defeated in Regional Quarter Final

Report from Mike White:

In the Nationwide championship Banbury U15’s played Leamington U15’s in a tactical game of cricket. Banbury’s opening bowlers Adnan Iqbal (4 over’s 0 for 13 runs) and Connor Williams (4 over’s 1 maiden 0 for 12 runs) restrictied Leamington to 15 runs off the first six over’s. Runs started to flow for Leamington until the introduction of spin from Jamie Coles (3 over’s 0 for 12) and Justin Lambden (4 over’s 1 wkt for 16 runs). An excellent throw and direct hit from Captain Sam Ryan ran out  T. Williams for 9 and a sharp stumping by Craig Lynes kept Leamington’s score to 103 with Josh De Souza scoring 50 not out off the last ball of their 20 over’s.

Banbury’s inning’s got off to a bad start with Lloyd Sabin being caught in the first over and Sam Ryan  following in the next over. Banbury were then 3 wickets down when Jamie Coles was caught leaving us in deep trouble. Tom White and Craig Lynes put on 20 runs before two more Banbury wickets fell. Tom White 32 not out and Clark Berry 10 not out being the main contributors to Banbury’s 72 for 6 wickets.

Banbury U15’s should be very proud of their achievement’s this season in the Oxon league, being champions of the county in 2008.
