U11’S ARE COUNTY CHAMPIONS

For the first time a Banbury junior side are Oxfordshire champions, with victory at St Edwards School yesterday. In our semi final against Freeland  we restriced them to 210 ,3 wickets for Will Stanley and Josh Megson,2 for Adnan Ahmed along with tight spells by Ollie Stevenson,Will Briggs,Conor Williams and Ed Arnold and some outstanding fielding put us in a good position.Josh Megson 13, Ed Arnold 12 top scored as we eased into the final against Aston Rowant. After winning the toss and batting we found runs hard to come by as Rowants bowling and fielding was magnificent,1st pair Will Smith and Conor Williams got the score to 209 and after the 2nd pair of Ed Arnold and Will Stanley the score remained at at 209 Josh Megson 10 and Ollie Stevenson took 11 from Oxfordshire captains Adam Muttitt’s first over as the score moved on to 218,skipper Will Briggs and Adnan Ahmed got us to a final score of 227.A wicket for Stanley in the 1st over and when Conor Williams bowled Muttitt in the second it was game on.But steady batting by Rowant saw them well positioned at 222 after 10 overs.A big over was needed and Josh Megson with 2 wickets in his first 4 balls[the second a brilliant catch by Briggs] and a magnificent run out by Stanley off the last ball changed the game in our favour. As the pressure grew on the Rowant batsman wickets began to fall,Will Briggs best bowling of the season 4–8 in his 3 overs and with paceman Megson 4  -11 they ripped through Rowants batting to leave wicket keeper Will Smith to force a run out off the last ball to leave Rowant on 205,in a magnificent bowling and fielding perfofmance when the pressure was on.It was left to skipper Will Briggs to lift the trophy in front of the large Banbury support, and then of course we all went down the pub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
