U11 Super 8’s Fall Narrowly Short

An inexperienced team that included 5 players participating in a hard ball match for the first time took on Great Tew U11’s on Sunday morning.

Batting first Great Tew initially struggled with the Banbury attack, after a rally by their third pair they posted a testing target of just over 250. The Banbury bowlers all performed admirably, there was a very low number of extras bowled throughout the innings and impressive fielding including 3 catches and a run out. Special mention to captain for the day Shreeva who bowled a hatrick in his first over and to Diego for a spectacular catch.

Banbury batted well throughout and actually lost fewer wickets than their hosts, however fell around a dozen runs short in the end. All the boys got runs and several hit boundaries. All the new players aquitted themselves well facing the hard ball for the first time, when receiving his last ball Noah even managed to get a run after being hit on the visor with the ball.

Superb effort all round and hopefully has given the boys a taster of what is to come in the future. Thanks to the parents that came to support, Richard for scoring and John for umpiring.
