Match Report:

Banbury CC U11 Super 10 Softball team visited Kidlington CC for their third and final fixture of the season between the two clubs. Banbury were in the embarrassing position of a misunderstanding of timings so, with only eight players on site twenty minutes after the official start time, offered to forfeit the toss and were put in to bat by Kidlington.

Although flustered by not being able to bowl first, which was an integral part of our game plan, all five pairs of Banbury’s batsmen acquitted themselves well with Ollie Andrews and Ben Crammond leading the way with scores of 28 n.o. and 15 n.o. respectively. Banbury setting Kidlington a challenging but certainly not insurmountable target!

In reply Kidlington were kept in check with an impressive all round display of bowling, catching and fielding; the stand out bowlers were Callum Foster and Charlie Woodhead, both completing double wicket overs, with Josh Divers chipping in with a wicket with his first ball, resulting in a close run victory for Banbury.

Kidlington voted Callum Foster as Banbury’s Man of the Match for his aforementioned double wicket over (both bowled with superb ‘yorkers’) and, in return, Banbury voted Luca van der Linden as Kidlington’s MoM for his all round display of classically high, left arm pace bowling; when batting, clean striking of the ball and his athletic fielding, so impressive for a cricketer of such a young age. Our thanks to Kidlington’s coach, Marco, their umpire, Nick, and their drinks/refreshments’ ladies, in helping to make the match, again, an enjoyable affair!
