U11 Softball Finish the Season Unbeaten!

A fantastic days cricket at White Post Road on Sunday signalled the culmination of the U11 softball teams season as they hosted Freeland CC.

The team have performed with good spirit and excellent technique throughout the season, this was true again this week. Both teams performed admirably providing an entertaining match for the watching crowd.

The opposition batted first and started well, as the innings progressed they maintained a good scoring rate though wickets later in the innings restricted their total to 230. The Banbury bowlers had all contributed with Olly, Diego and Harry taking wickets plus an excellent run out finished off by Callum. Charlie and Noah rounded the bowling off with economical spells.

Olly and Callum opened the innings and took the score to 210, unfortunately losing a couple of wickets in the process. Diego and Freddie then took to the field and with excellent communication and backing up progressed the score to 234 at the halfway point in the innings. Harry and Zachary then faced the Freeland attack, losing only one wicket in their joint innings the scored another 12 runs. The usual last pair of Noah and Charlie rounded the innings off, batting sensibly they played through their overs without losing a wicket and took the total score to 262.

Celebrations at the end by all the players was a fitting end to an unbeaten season, many of the team stayed for the BBQ lunch and World Cup Final in the clubhouse and also witnessed the pre-arranged fly past by the red arrows to mark their seasons efforts!!
