U11 Hundred Festival

Report by Matt Acton

Match One vs Horley

Batting first we put on a huge 166 for 3 with great contributions from all. We backed it up with the ball bowling then all out for 71 runs.

Match Two vs Witney

Ollie C finally won a toss, and decided to bowl first. As expected Witney had some impressive batting and our fielding team did great job to restrict them to 101. In return we made a bit of hard work in the chase finally getting the required 102 with 2 balls to spare (always a pity when a chase ends in a wide but that’s cricket).

Match Three vs Buckingham

Ollie C again won a toss (how?) and again decided to bowl first. Similar to the previous match our bowling / fielding effort was incredible including four catches (unheard of in U11 cricket) restricting a very good Buckingham side to just 78 runs. After a shaky start losing 4 quick wickets we chased down the require runs in 86 balls after some very mature batting by the middle order.

In winning all three games on the day this meant our U11s won the festival, all the coaches were hugely proud of the all round performance and support the team all gave each other.

Special mention to Ollie C for his wonderful performance as captain (As well as his batting and bowling)

Amazing batting performances from James A. and Huw D. who were not out in all three matches scoring 63* and 58*

But without a doubt player of the tournament was Beau R. with his incredible 11 wickets. The consistency of his line and length were a pleasure to watch.

With the season coming to end it’s been amazing to have them all enjoying the cricket so much.

One more tournament to go when we hopefully can go to finals day next Sunday and top off an amazing season with hopefully lots of support.
