Thirds Win at Oxford & Bletchingdon

 

Banbury completed the first round of fixtures by beating
Oxford & Bletchingdon by 5 wickets. On a very green wicket Banbury looked
to make early in roads into the Oxford & Bletchingdon top order.  Banbury made the break through with the score
on 13, Woodworth taking the wicket of Allen, caught at mid on for 4.

A partnership of 52 between Haynes (38) & Thompson (21)
briefly halted Banbury but once Freeman took the prize wicket of Haynes wickets fell at regular interval resulting in Ox & Bletchingdon being bowled out for 167. Liam Manley 3 -12 and
Andrew Proctor 3 – 21 were the pick of the bowlers with three wickets a piece.We felt this was about 60 to many as no less than four catches went down. So far this season Ross has had 14 catches dropped from his bowling tis year, across the second and third team. 

 

In reply Banbury openers Sam Ryan and Jonty

both fell, scoring 13 runs a piece with the score on 36
for 2. This soon became 85 for five, still requiring 82 from 33 overs and the
game was in the balance. Skipper Ally Jarvis
and Ross Freeman steadied the
innings and set about gaining the 85 runs to win the game. Freeman and Jarvis
guided Banbury to a five wicket win, Freeman 40 not out and Jarvis 67 not out.

Luke Price was the pick of the Oxford & Bletchingdon
bowlers with figures of       

3-52 from 14.

 At the half way stage of the season the 3XI are just 20 points off league leaders Leighton Buzzard.
