Saturday was the best day of the year so far and the thirds turned in just about our best performance in boiling hot conditions on a magnificent wicket at Thame.Winning the toss new skipper Ross Freeman decided to have a bat Nick Best[75] and Sam Ryan [33]put on 90 for the first wicket,Joe White then smashed 50 odd and with old man Proc 29no we batted well for the first time this season ending with 257 for 4.We then bowled superbly on a shirt front of a pitch to restrict Thame to 171 for 7,spinners Nat Gregory and Joe White bowled really well as did Rocket Robbins,Rosco ,Proc and Johnny Best. The spirit in the team was magnificent and surely the youngest third team ever to take to the field as six of the team were under seventeen sadly for me i am not under 17 STONE ! The top five batsmen were Johnny Best ,Sam Ryan,Joe White,Nat Gregory and 14year old Tom White and how well they all performed. What a joy for me to be batting at nine and not having to pad up in the first fifteen overs !.We had decided as our mark of respect to George with a minutes silence during the first over so no one was allowed to say anything ,clap ,appeal just quiet, only for Nick Best to to bowl 7 wides in the first over of the Thame reply, i am sure he had a big smile on his face as the over lasted for over five minutes[ a record for me keeping my gob shut for sure].God bless you George the young lads did you proud.
