Banbury sit at the top of the Home Counties Premier Cricket League after one week.
FROM OXFORD MAIL:
OXFORDSHIRE skipper Luke Ryan took 5-10 as Banbury stole an early march on their Division 1 rivals with a 60-run victory at Gerrards Cross under the Duckworth/Lewis Method.
The left-arm spinner sent Gerrards Cross reeling to 75 all out as they chased a revised target of 136 off 20 overs after a big rain break.
Earlier, Banbury had reached 107-3 off 28.5 overs after being put in to bat when there was a huge downpour.
Lloyd Sabin was unbeaten on 54 at the time, with his runs coming off 90 balls and including four boundaries and a six.
Nathan Hawkes chipped in with 31 at a run a ball.
It wasn’t until 6pm that play was able to resume with the Gerrards Cross innings.
Left-arm seamer Liam Manley made a double breakthrough by removing Matthew Watson and David Solway with the score on 17.
Off-spinner Richard West (2-19) and Ryan then combined to work their way through the rest of the order, before skipper Jimmy Phillips picked up the final wicket.
And with it being the only game completed, Banbury are already 14 points clear of the their rivals.
