It’s 2 out of 2 for the Ladies, Pia hits 55 but runs twin sister Kate out

Banbury Ladies 1st X1 travelled to Hampton on Sun for their
2nd match of the season. Buoyed
up by their win the previous week, the main focus was for Mrs B not to get too
excited and think that the team can take on the world – wise words from an old master, Andy Sabin.

So with a very calm Mrs B, Anna Tait won the toss and
decided to put Hampton into bat, and what a wise decision, Banbury opening
bowling pair Harriet Boland and Chloe Hill only allowing a total of 15 runs off
their first 5 overs each, Chloe securing a wicket, brilliantly caught by Emily
Ong. Kate Davies came into the action,
and got 2 wickets from her 5 overs, finishing on 5-0-13-2. Emily took to the stage and finished with
figures of 7-3-9-0. Harriet and Hannah
took a wicket a piece with Hampton
finishing on 113 for 5 off their 40 overs.

Openers Kate Davies and Chloe Hill started off quickly, with
over 5 runs an over, we only needed 3 an over to win. Chloe was caught by an amazing diving catch
from Nicky McCready, Hampton’s ex Northern Ireland
player. In came Pia who, with gay
abandon, very quickly got to 55 not out; the only downside running her twin
sister Kate out for 22 (not a good car journey home). Our young star, Emily, came in and calmly
secured 12 runs to get the required total of 114 for the loss of 3 off 20
overs.

A big thank you to John Woodworth for scoring, Brady for coaching and Morgan for umpiring.

Banbury win by 9 wickets.
