Girls Season so far…..

Oxfordshire staged two age groups for the girls this year (Under 12’s & Under 15’s) as well as the usual Lady Taverners one-day Tournaments for Under 13’s & Under 15’s. Our progress to date has been as follows:

Under 12’s – Won our league. 4 matches scheduled. Won 2 (against Bampton & Hook Norton) and 2 conceded (against Oxford & Aston Rowant). The County Play-off is on Tuesday 12th July at Charlbury CC. We’ll play the winner of tonight’s decider between Shipton & Oxford Downs from the other league. Please come along & support our girls on Tuesday if possible.

Under 13’s (Lady T’s) – has not been re-arranged yet. The fixtures section will be updated when I know when this is. We won an Under 13 friendly tournament at Aston Rowant in May in which we beat Freeland & Shipton in the group stages, the hosts in the semis and Hook Norton in the final.

Under 15’s – we were drawn in a tough league of 4 with two of the best teams in the County at this age, Oxford, Freeland & Oxford Downs. Our 1st game against Downs was abandoned due to Bad Light with them 15 for 7 off 6 overs. We then beat Oxford off the penultimate ball but lost to Freeland which, if we’d won, would have seen us through to the County Final. However due to Net Run Rates Oxford won the league by the equivalent of less than one wicket lost. We finished 3rd in the same league.

Under 15 Lady T’s – having been drawn against Freeland & Hook Norton we beat the latter but lost to the eventual winners, Freeland (who beat Oxford in the final).

All in all, a successful year for the grils &, hopefully, there will be more silverware to follow.

Thanks to Brian Reeves, Dave Caiger & Christine Boland for their help with the coaching throughout this year and at matches, to the parents for their excellent support and putting up with my endless texts & emails, and most importantly, to the girls for what they’ve achieved this year and for their efforts
