Banbury 2nd XI produced another good performance in the league on Saturday as they entertianed Witney Mills 1stXI. After winning the toss Banbury batted first and with the experience of Andrew Sabin and Ian Tew set about posting a competative score. Sabin and Tew put on 70 for the first wicket in 22 overs with Tew out for 20 after being caught at mid on. Sabin and Ally Jarvis increased the tempo with good running between the wickets and also not letting the bowlers setttle in a rythym. Andrew Sabin used his feet well to the spinners and reached his half century with a six. Sabin and Jarvis produced a 74 run partnership in 13 overs to set a great platform for the incomming batsman. Jamie Briggs and Sabin kept the scoreboard ticking until the last 10 overs and then the pair excelerated to give Banbury a total of 246 for 3 from 50 overs. Sabin reached his first century of the season, finishing on 128 not out and Jamie Briggs 32 not out, as togetherer the pair had an unbroken partnership of 88.
Banbury had secured maximum batting points and now set their sights on bowling Witney out to gain 30 points. Azar Shah made the breakthrough having Smith caught and bowled for 9. Shah and Board collected another wicket a piece to leave Witney Mills 38 for 3. Pete Claridge and Andy Cannons offered some ristance with a 4th wicket stand of 34 before Ian Adams claimed the wickets of both batsman in consecttive overs. Adams went on to take 3 more wickets bowling Kelly and Skelton before having Andy Claridge leg before. Ian Adams finished with figures of 5 wickets for 22 runs off 9 overs.
The innings and game was wrapped up with a run out from the last ball of the 40th overs as Le Fort (30 not out) tried to protect his number 11 but Ayres was run out for 0.
Banbury won the game by 108 runs.
