Brave Thirds Pipped at the Post

The thirds put in another solid performance only to come up just short against Bledlow  Village. In a game interrupted by the rain, again,we lost the toss for the 6th time this season and were put in.Josh Hill was soon out but Jamie Coles and Asif Hussain took the score to 43 before Hussain was out for 20, two wickets then fell in consecutive balls and at 52-4 we were in trouble.Mike Thomas then played really well and along with Coles took the score to 96,Coles out for  solid 32,Thomas was soon out for  an excellent 30 it was then left to some big hitting by Neil Megson 24 to see us to 128 in 45 overs. The inning was interrupted 4 times by the rain and crucially we missed out on our last few ‘slog’ overs .In reply James Risbridger got early wickets and at 27-3 the game was any ones.Bledlow skipper Adam Mould hit 38 as Bledlow started to take control and at 118 -5 with 8 overs left there was only one winner. With Thomas toiling away at one end and the returning Risbridger things began to change ,a superb legside catch by Megson off Thomas and two wickets in 2 balls from Risbridger got us to the last over with 4 needed and one wicket left.It was  number 11 Mark King who won a terrific game with a glorious cover drive.Another close game for the thirds as is our and the leagues theme this season.
