Welcome to the latest Banbury Cricket Club newsletter, keeping you right up to date with what is happening ahead of the 2026 season! The hard work doesn't stop behind the scenes, so we thought now was a great time to get in touch and see if you can also support us.
Senior Cricket
Indoor nets are drawing to a close (last session Sunday 29th March), so it is time to start heading back outside! The first outdoor nets are Thursday 2nd April at White Post Road, from 6pm; sessions will then continue on Tuesdays & Thursdays thereafter.
The full list of pre-season fixtures start on Saturday 11th April and the league then begins on Saturday 9th May! Contact your captains to let them know you're available. (Reminder for 2026, match fees are set at £12 for adults & £6 for U18, students & unemployed - please bring cash each week!)
REMINDER: We are also holding a pre-season players' meeting for anyone looking to play senior cricket in 2026; outlining plans and expectations for the year ahead. This is taking place Tuesday 31st March at 19:00. The bar will be open from 18:30 and pizza available from Caprinos. If you're unable to attend, please let your captain know.
Women & Girls Cricket
Indoor training finishes Sunday 5th April, so our outdoor training follows soon after on Wednesday 15th April at White Post Road, from 6pm. We will continue to offer specialist coaching & training for both softball and hardball - led by our 2026 Overseas Professional, Sam Fanning!
Membership is only £20 this year - so why not sign up today, via Spond!
RETURNING for 2026: Girls Cricket Hub - open to school years 3-8
The HCWCL Super 8 league fixtures begin on Sunday 3rd May, with more friendlies and softball festivals TBC throughout the season! We are also thrilled to be bringing back our U11 Girls Team for 2026. They will take part in a number of softball tournaments across the Summer, and we look forward to watching their progress.
If you are interested in finding out more about Women & Girls cricket at BCC, contact Karen Cross or Zoe Pugh for more info.
Youth Cricket
Our final U11, U13 & U15 indoor sessions take place on Sunday 5th April. Our U15s then head straight outside on Tuesday 7th April.
Youth registration has also been open for some time and once again we have been delighted with the uptake and excitement for cricket in 2026, with even more fixtures planned this year! We now only have very limited spaces in our U13, U15, U17 & U19 groups and would be delighted to welcome new members to the club. Find out more here
Reminder, all subscriptions must be paid before any training or pre-season games.
Please keep an eye on Spond for group posts with any further updates for each age group.
Our ever popular Friday night training begins a week earlier this year, on the 17th April (including the first All-Stars cohort); we look forward to seeing you all up there - bar & BBQ open as always, as well as Kan's Kitchen and Mr Frosty! Check out some of our 2025 highlights, here!
There's also still time to sign up to the fantastic Easter Camps, held at the club. For more details, click here.
With more fixtures than ever before in 2026, we are always looking for more volunteers, so if you feel that you could help the team in any capacity, please contact Matt Acton!
Ground - #GetSetWeekend
We are extremely lucky to have two grounds of such a high standard, however we need your support to get them ready for the season - players from all teams requested to attend! Please spare an hour or two on the below dates, bring a paintbrush and broom, and help to get your grounds ready:
- White Post Road - Saturday 28th March from 9:00am
- Ermont Way - Friday 3rd April (Good Friday) from 9:00am
We all know that cricket would simply not happen if it were not for the support of its volunteers - both on and off the field. We are very fortunate to have a growing number of helping hands and a proactive committee, but we are always looking for new ideas and support, even on an informal basis!Whether it be scoring, umpiring, helping on either ground or adding your skills to our fundraising / social efforts, your support would be much appreciated. Please get in touch if you can help, or know anyone who can.
