BCC Newsletter – February 2021

Welcome to the latest Banbury Cricket Club newsletter, keeping you right up to date with what is happening ahead of the 2021 season!

Senior Cricket
Our cricket committee have been working tirelessly to put plans in place for the playing membership across the club and we are delighted to welcome some new faces for the 2021 season! Our Grounds team have also acted swiftly to appoint Graham Savin as our new Groundsman, joining us from Bicester & North Oxford where he will also continue his superb work. Everyone at BCC is delighted to welcome Graham and we look forward immensely to working together!

Women & Girls Cricket
We are excited to announce that our Women’s XI will play their cricket in the Women’s Home Counties Premier League in 2021, under the new leadership of Lucy Hunter! We welcome players of all abilities and ages to join our reinvigorated and thriving section, following their title success in 2019!

If you are a female coach and looking to get into cricket supporting BCC, we are able to offer to pay for 50% of your course; please get in touch if this is you!

If you are interested in finding out more about Women & Girls cricket at BCC, why not come along to one of the softball festivals we are hosting on 23rd May & 13th June with Oxfordshire? Alternatively, contact Lucy Hunter or Mark Austin for further information.

Youth Cricket
A reminder that Youth Registration is open!

We are now accepting youth members from multi-skills right through to U19s. We have a large number of spaces in our multi-skills section (Years 1 & 2) and would be thrilled to welcome new members to the club, to introduce them firstly to cricket but also the pure enjoyment of exercise and the development of key social skills!

We are also looking for volunteers for youth matchday managers and admin support, to help facilitate the youth cricket in 2021 and liaise with the outstanding coaches we have across the section! Without you, we cannot guarantee that we can run multiple teams across each age group.

Please contact Richard Badger if you feel you can help in any way!

Ground
Adhering to all protocols, there has been some essential ground maintenance taking place recently, alongside the new David Wilson Homes housing estate on White Post Road! A new road layout and entrance to White Post Road is being completed currently, expected to finish by 22nd February – look out for pictures on our social media soon! The building contractors will also very kindly build a new paved area outside of our nets, which will act as a seating area for spectators and parents throughout the Summer months! We cannot wait to welcome members, events and the public back to White Post Road when it is safe to do so!
