Banbury moved to the top of Cherwell Division 2 after a comfortable victory at Wolverton.
On a used wicket, Wolverton won the toss and elected to bat, with the potential for rain interuptions during the game.
Banbury had the worst possible start, when Ed Smith pulled up lame after the first two balls with a side strain. This meant a quick change in plan, with Josh Megson now able to bowl with the wind.
Ross Freeman took the new ball and bowled his best spell of the season to date. It was Megson who made the initial break through removing the dangerous Hussain. He soon had Sean Potter caught at cover, and Wolverton were struggling at 25-2.
Freeman trapped Arif LBW and Hussain caught and bowled.
Megson finished his initial spell with 2-21 off 7 overs. Nathanial Gregory bowled a short spell with no reward.
Freeman continued to cause problems with his late swing, and bagged 2 more wickets. He finished with figures of 15-3-41-4, which would of been better except the final over went for 14.
Josh Hill and Chris Smith bowled some useful spin but with the damp ball struggled for control. The re-introduction of Megson bought the innings to a rapid close, as he took two wickets with his first 2 balls back, and finally removed Gosling for 33.
It was his secong 5 wicket haul of the season and ended with figures of 8.3-1-26-5.
Banbury got off to a steady start, with Sabin and Phillips never looking in any trouble. Phillips reached 50 off 67 balls but then chipped one to mid wicket with the score on 97.
Jamie Coles had a short stay at the crease, but had to retire injured following a blow to the knee when fielding.
Sabin was then bowled for 39. Luke Radford came in and looked to end the match in style, but after hitting one 6, was caught on the deep mid on boundary.
Smith and Gegory saw Banbury home with 7 wickets in hand and 23 overs spare.
