Banbury’s celebrations after reaching the regional final of the Kingfisher Beer National KO were cut short as they learned their captain Ian Hawtin has been ruled out for a minimum of 6-8 weeks.
The wicket-keeper, who is also Oxfordshire skipper, broke his arm at the elbow while doing some work at his new house on Sunday. He will be in plaster for 6 weeks and it remains to be seen whether he will feature again this term.
Vice Captain Jimmy Phillips will take over the captaincy while new addition Jonny Cater will take the gloves.
