Banbury ease past Great Tew

A century partnership between Benji Hector and Simon Hole saw Banbury in to the Quarter Finals of this year’s Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire KO with minimal fuss.

Tew had started brightly, reaching 34 off 4 overs batting first on a very flat surface; however some over enthusiastic running and poor shot selection saw them loose wickets at regular intervals in the face of some accurate bowling. Tew could only muster 105, loosing their last wicket in the 20th over. Especially accurate was all rounder Craig Haupt who took 3 wickets for 2 runs in his two overs.

Skipper Hector shuffled his 6 man bowling pack giving them a valuable work out in match conditions before Saturday’s league fixture against Henley.

Hector then joined opener Hole with no Score on the board; the two were not to be separated as Banbury cruised past Tew’s total for the loss of one wicket in the 13th over, Hector finishing 55 not out, Hole 45.
