Seamer Ian Adams made a devastating return to first-team action after two years’ absence as he led Banbury to their second win of the season on Saturday.
After rain reduced the match to 83 overs, Adams swept the home side away, bowling throughout the innings to claim magnificent figures of 7-75, the second-best return by a Banbury bowler in the Premier League behind David Taylor’s 8-43 against Slough in 2001 .
Left-arm spinner Paul Hill helped himself to two wickets at the other end.
Banbury were given a solid start in reply, but the victory charge was based on a third-wicket stand between Paul Taylor and skipper Richard Kaufman.
The pair put on 74 in 16 overs to set up the victory.
There was still work to do, however, chasing a rate of six an over, but Steve Beck and Danny Harding then added 50 in eight overs.
The former was run out before Banbury’s young keeper coolly hit the winning boundary with three balls to spare.
