Reformed in 1949 Banbury Cricket Club has developed in recent years into the leading club side in Oxfordshire, winning the inaugural Home Counties Premier League in 2000.
The club runs several sides of varying age groups and abilities with four Saturday sides. The First XI play in the ECB Home Counties Premier League, the highest standard of club cricket. The Second, Third and Fourth XI play in the Cherwell League competing against other club sides in the county; most recently all winning their respective divisions in 2022! The club also manages a Social Sunday & Midweek side, as well as a Competitive Sunday XI which competes in the ECB National Club Championship. Banbury also run a fantastic Women & Girls section, with a team in the ECB Women's Home Counties Premier League and compete in Indoor & Softball competitions. We are also pleased to continue to offer girls training sessions alongside our Women's sessions on Wednesday afternoons - head to our Women's Cricket page for more information!
Banbury Cricket Club also has a comprehensive youth set up coached by qualified coaches offering cricket at under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 levels; as well as the brilliant ECB All Stars initiative. Many of the players from the youth set up have gone on to represent their counties at their age group and the club has now seen a number of these youth players go on to play in the club's First XI. The club has also been the breeding ground for some of this talent to go onto play senior county cricket at National Counties and First Class level.
Banbury Cricket Club is a forward thinking, dynamic club always looking to push the club forward in new and exciting ventures, no more so than in 1996 when the Banbury were the first club side to appoint a Director of Cricket in Neal Radford (Worcestershire & England).
The club is run and managed by a dedicated and committed general committee who strive to manage the operations of the club in a thorough and professional manner, further enhancing the club's status within the county and nationally.
The club are very fortunate to play at some of the best cricketing and social facilities in club cricket provided by the Banbury Recreational Trust at White Post Road, but also at Ermont Way. The facilities not only play host to Banbury fixtures but also that of National Counties Cricket - including previously the MCCA Finals, C&G Trophy matches and County benefit matches throughout the season, not to mention a host of other sporting and leisure activities.
Off the field, the club provides a friendly family atmosphere with a superb social scene with a lively social calendar throughout the year.
Banbury Cricket Club always welcomes new members whether they are playing or non playing. We look forward to seeing you at the club throughout the season.
