The first game against the Royal Brussels CC was played at their magnificent ground in Waterloo,we won the toss and put the Belgiums in and bowled them out for 134.Four wickets in an over [ including a hatrick ] by Andrew Proctor being the highlight of a superb performance ,i think we took five catches in all.In reply we started well 19 from Neil Megson and 26 from James Mitchelmore, but a flurry of wickets left Simon Angel and Steve Paxton needing 12 from 3 overs, they got this down to 4 from 2 balls and Angel smacked a boundry over midwicket to give us a famous victory. It was harder going on sunday against Antwerp as they slogged their way to 176 in 30 overs. We we ended up 136 for 8, with Steve Beck and Ross Freeman blocking the last 10 overs as the Antwerp attack overdid the short stuff ,at least 40 bouncers bowled in this period of very odd cricket indeed. The highlights, Neil Megson with 26 and James Mitchelmore 18, good bowling from Steve Beck and Mitchelmore and a quite sensational catch in the deep from Steve Paxton.Ian Johnson also turning the clock back with 2 sharp catches as well.
