Banbury CC Youth Presentation Evening – Friday, 1st October 2021
Friday evening saw the annual youth presentation evening at the Club. An impressive turnout saw boys and girls from the multi-skills group through to the Under 15s, parents, coaches, managers, volunteers, the Youth Chairman and the Club President reflect on a fantastic season of youth cricket.
The evening was hosted by Richard Badger, who started by thanking all of the coaches and other volunteers for everything they do to support youth cricket at the Club. This summer, perhaps more than ever (after a difficult 2020 for everyone), it was so good to see over 120 children training at White Post Road on Friday evenings and representing the Club in competitive matches each week. On Fridays, while the kids trained, parents enjoyed watching, socializing (Covid-compliantly of course), having a drink at the bar, and tucking into the burgers and ice creams on offer at the end of training.
Anna echoed her thanks to all of the coaches, parents and volunteers for their help and support, and emphasised the need for more parent volunteers and helpers to ensure that youth cricket continues to thrive at the Club. A special mention was also made of all the youth team players who had made the step up into senior cricket for the Club this year.
The age group coaches – Ollie Badger, Fred Price, John Woodhead, Stuart Armstrong and Craig Haupt, gave speeches and presented medals and trophies to a number of players for their performances during the season. An impressive array of awards were given to the following players:
Under 11s: Toby Brock, Charlie Woodhead and Finn Varney
Under 13s: Archie Holmes, Max Rose, Shivakumar Senthilkumar Sridevi, Thomas Hodge and Ben Cramond
Under 15s: Freddie Crook and Ben Miller
Richard was thanked by everyone for organizing this year’s youth season, from player registrations to submitting team entries for all of the various youth competitions, and for the huge amount of effort that he has put in over the last few years as Youth Chairman.
The evening ended with a number of parents and players enjoying a catch up and a drink (or three) at the bar – a successful end to another season and a real sense that youth cricket at Banbury is set to go from strength to strength.
