I am sure some of you are now well into Rugby, football or building up brownie points in time for next season – but there is still some fun to be had (and just a little work to do) at BCC. It is not often you can support something worthwhile simply by having a good time – but by attending cricket club events you are doing just that, so please do your best to come to one or more of the below:
(in chronological order)
Working Party – This Saturday 28th September
This is an important event and it will be appreciated particularly if those who play at White Post Road (and those who like to grumble about the wicket particularly) could come along a support. These things are never as much hard work as you expect and can be good fun if we get decent numbers. We are asking for a couple of hours of your time from 9am on Saturday and in return you get a lovely warm feeling instead of that nagging feeling of guilt. What a deal!!
Cricket Club Ball – Saturday 19th October
We just keep providing you with opportunities to impress your partners and friends. The cricket club ball is on Saturday 19th October, those who attended the 2011 event will remember what a huge success and great evening it was. Champagne reception, four course meal and dancing to the blue meanies is included for your £50 ticket. This really is a great event, so please do support it, we have 8 tables sold already – but we can accommodate individual ticket sales or one more table booking (or you may be invited by one of the table holders).
End of Season Dinner – Saturday 23rd November
Finally something just for you, and if we are honest, you deserve it. We were forced to delay this years end of season dinner due to the 1st XI qualifying for the finals of the National Puddle Jumping Championships at the Oval. Well the committee has come up with the perfect rearranged date – the Saturday of the FIRST ASHES TEST (I know, brilliant). So the usual speeches and player of the year presentations can be followed by, for those with enough stamina, hours of watching the England Basket Ball Squad (assume that is what has been picked) taking on Australia at Cricket. Tickets are £30 and include a 3 course meal.
To book yourself on to any of the above – please email Martin, John or Jimmy.
Extra Events:
Also this week we have:
the return of early bird suppers – THIS THURSDAY (26th of Sept), £8.50 for two courses. 6 for 6.30pm. This the menu is Fish and Chips followed by Apple Pie.
A coffee morning for MacMillan Nurses – Friday morning 10am to 12am – cakes and coffee for charity.
Thanks for reading and see you soon I hope! (feel free to forward this around as all are welcome).
