FROM OXFORD MAIL
Banbury fell to a three-wicket defeat at North Mymms in Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League Division 1 on Saturday.
It was very much a one-man show for the victors, with captain Nesan Jeyaratnam hitting an unbeaten 109 to steer his side to victory.
Having been asked to bat, Banbury got off to a solid start with Lloyd Sabin and Ian Tew putting on 72 for the first wicket, before Tew was run out.
Another half-century partnership followed between Sabin and Craig Haupt, but when the latter was out with the score on 126, Banbury then lost wickets at regular intervals.
Sabin top-scored with 69, which contained six fours and three sixes as the visitors closed on 214-9.
Chris Thompson was quickly amongst the top order as the hosts were reduced to 18-2.
But that brought Jeyaratnam to the crease, and although wickets fell at the other end, his super knock, with ten fours and two sixes, saw his side home in 49.3 overs.
