Banbury kept in contention of promotion with a 7 wicket victory over Challow on Saturday. Winning the toss and electing to field, Banbury were soon in charge when Josh Megson and Olly Wright took wickets in there second overs, to leave challow struggling at 13-2.
A positive innings from N Hume provided some momentum, but he was the run out for 46 after a mix up with W Clarke.
On a dry wicket that offered little for the seamers, Paul Hill bowled a 20 over spell, and he was rewarded with fine figures of 20.2-5-53-4.
Olly Wright claimed 3 wickets to end with figures of 13-0-41-3.
Neil Megson making a return to the 2nds was involved in 5 of the Challow dismissals.
Challow were finally all out for 177.
The Challow bowlers made life hard at the start off the innings, swinging the ball away from the opening pair. Sabin was finally dismissed for 10. Ed Phillips and Jamie Coles battled hard, and kept the scoreboard ticking over.
Phillips was caught for 36 off 49 balls, which was a great effort taking into account he was best man at a wedding the day before, and was still drinking at 4am!
Steve Beck joined Coles at the crease, and the pair put on 107 for the 3rd wicket. On a quick scoring ground, the bowlers were put under presure and didnt realy have an answer.
Coles was run out for 38 off 85 balls.
Nathanial Gregory was left to hit the winning runs, as Banbury came home easy winners with Beck not out 73 off 79 balls.
