The thirds romped to an easy 6 wicket victory against Challow 2nds on Saturday, this their 2nd comfortable win in succession as Ross Freemans merry men put themselves in the promotion picture at this early stage of the season.Winning the toss Freeman inserted Challow and the pace duo of Adnan Iqbal and Connor Williams reduced the home side to 15 for 2.The innings of the match then insued, as Alex Lynch dominated for the home side.At 109 for 3 Challow looked well placed for a good score. But 2 wickets in an over from Freeman bought about a wind of change as the Challow batsman came and went ,Lynch was finally out for a quality innings of 82 as his team were bowled out for 153.Iqbal with 2 wickets ,3 for Freeman ,1 for spinner Andy Stevens but pick of the bunch Connor Williams whose 8 overs yielded 4 – 11 of controlled swing bowling. The fielding backed up another solid bowling performance ,the highlight being an incredible diving one handed catch by Charlie Hill.In reply Banbury got off to a flier and when Adam Wirth was out for 25 in the 12th over 69 was already on the board.Charlie Hill came and went but Justin Lambden 22 and back to form Ally Jarvis 48 put Banbury in the pound seats. It was then left to Chris Phillips 24n/o and Andy Stevens 14n/o to see us home with 20 overs to spare. It sets us up nicely for the next two weeks with huge games against Horspath 2nds[who dont forget beat our 2nd team in a pre season friendly]and the following weeks derby against the 29’s.
