4ths Defeat Didcot by 6 Wickets

The 4ths were at home to Didcot 3rd’s with 6 changes from last weeks side.

Richard Lambden, skippering the side for the day, won the toss and put Didcot into bat on what looked like a good wicket.  However, some variable bounce made batting (and wicket keeping for Mitch!) a bit difficult, but certainly helped the bowling team.  Mark Wright struck early and had 4 wickets by the time Didcot were reduced to 28-4.  A good partnership of 34 threatened to restore Didcot before Mark Pallett came into the attack and was able to break the partnership with the benefit of the ‘low’ bounce.  From there, Didcot struggled and were eventually all out for 105 in 29th over.  The best bowlers for Banbury were Mark Pallett with 5-27 off 6 overs and Mark Wright with 4-14 off 9 overs.

In reply, Banbury were off to an disastrous start with Mitch bowled first ball.  Anas Ahmed and Will Briggs then steadied things with a 53 run partnership before Anas was bowled by the low bounce for 18.  Richard Lambden notched up a quick fire 22 before Adnan (unsuccessfully) tried to finish the match in his usual style. It was then left to Will Briggs, who had batted really well (with a little luck) to get Banbury home with consecutive fours to finish 48 not out.

It was a great result for the team and another clinical performance all round.  Well done!
