The u17’s became county champions for the first time with a four wicket win against Oxford today.Losing the toss we were asked to bowl in what was to prove difficult conditions .The innings took two and a half hours to complete as the teams went on and off in the sometimes heavy rain,in fact we bowled 12 of the overs in awful conditions. All four spinners bowled well ,2 wickets for James Morgan and 2 also for seamer Clarke Berry,Lloyd Sabin proved the pick with his four overs going for only 15 runs,Oxford finished on 130 for 6. In reply Banbury lost early wickets but Sabin and Josh Megson put on 43 for the 4th wicket in quick time, but when Megson and Justin Lambden were out in quick succesion ,a lot rested on Sabin’s shoulders,he was caught at the wicket for a superb 56 but 32 was still needed with 5 overs to go.Enter Clarke Berry and Mark Pallett who scored the required, runs with some good running and lusty blows from Berry, who finished 19 not out in 8 balls as Banbury won with 17 balls to spare.
