(Report by Brian Reeves) Against Isle of Wight on Saturday 17th July the County U13 Girls set several county records.
Carla Woods of Freeland (135) and Coral Reeves of Banbury (89) set records for the highest partnership for U13 County Girls Cricket (241 runs), individual highest score (Carla) and individual highest opening score (Coral). Oxfordshire finished on 295 for 4 off their 30 overs and bowled Isle of Wight out for 35.
In addition to this, several other Banbury Girls contributed with Pia Davies taking two stumping’s and a catch, twin sister Kate grabbed a wicket, Harriet Boland took two wickets, removing the best IOW player, and Chloe Hill also sent the bails tumbling with a wicket of her own. Finally, and just to make sure of a very early return home, Coral Reeves took a magnificent slip catch to bring the game to an end.
From a Club perspective, Banbury Girls contributed to five of the ten wickets taken, and set impressive records that the girls and management team can be very proud of.
All of this bodes well for our Girls section – A big well done to each and every one of the selected County players
